The F-16I ("Sufa") is one of the most popular aircraft of the air force. The number of squadrons (4) is second only to F-16C/D ("barrack"). The aircraft has been in service since 19.02.04 (see Annex 1), i.e. for more than 13 years. Over the years of combat losses nebylo in accidents and catastrophes, lost 4 aircraft (see Annex 2).
"Sufa" perform dozens of types (almost all) of tasks of combat aircraft of the Israeli air force: "air-air", "air-ground", aerial photography. On average, they operate 11,000 flight hours a year. Widely used in the Second Lebanese war of 2006 and in various operations in the Gaza strip. 06.10.12 Sufa carried out the first successful interception of an air target: the Hizbullah UAV, which had invaded Israeli airspace, was shot down.
